King Air C90 report
#3 in Angkor
After the ferry
flight and Asian trip, then 3 weeks away from home, my family came for a
holiday to Cambodia. The country has one major thing to offer, that are
the temples of Angkor near the town of Siem Reap.

With approximately
600 pictures taken of old stones it shows the scale of this site. Angkor Wat is the
most famous and largest temple followed by the Bayon temple. In a
relatively small area there are 30 to 40 temples and the less known ones
offer real India Jones feeling.

Hiking and sneaking around the old ruins
or climbing on top high as 80 Meters. The steps are extremely steep and
lack equal spacing what makes it a challenge to come down again. Looking down the
steps

All the hotels offer
work out facilities but this is not needed. 2-3 hours hiking around in
30°C takes care of the body fitness.
The Bayon temple with
hundreds of sculptured faces

Each year a million
tourists are coming but still it is possible to find romantic places.

The artwork is superb!

And thousand years
ago the Khmer rulers knew already what looked nice.

One way of getting
around is by elephant. Not the fastest transport but in style.

Siem Riep has an
international airport and actually more traffic than Phnom Penh the
Cambodian capital thanks to the tourists. It is possible for a private
pilot to fly in himself with his plane but air navigation charges, and
handling fees are very expensive. There are several groups working to
reduce the fees for light aircraft but for now it’s around 500$ to in fly
yourself. (2005)
