The Cessna CitationJet

The Cessna

The CitationJet is a great business tool.

It’s an air-taxi par excellence, very safe because of it’s simplicity. It’s the easiest plane in the world to land. And it is very forgiving, a private pilot can handle it. (It should have the name "easyjet" but this is already taken by the airline.)

The pilot has fun flying it, working a modern cockpit, EFIS equipped with a great autopilot.

The Passengers (up to 4) enjoy a nice quiet cabin, a smooth fast ride in style. (max.6 pax, but no style)

The only real shortcoming is the limited range.

And it is not really the plane for the Jet-setters. With it’s camping style toilet and mini-van like refreshment center you can not call it luxury.

It was designed as an owner/pilot aircraft and with small flight departments in mind. Operation cost is the strong point. For a jet it consumes ‘no fuel at all’.
(For example, running one engine on the ground for cabin environment control and on-board electric-power burns 100lbs/h, half of that of some mid-size jets APU’s, in flight it's not much more)

The used light jet market is moving due to the fact that other new jet are delivered.

The hardest competitor for the CitationJet is the CJ2 a stretched higher powered version of the same breed. Followed by the Primer one and maybe soon the Sinojet.

Prices are coming down and the gap between the CJ (citationjet not to misunderstand the CJ1) and twin turboprops is getting smaller.
